Memorial Tree
Many of Chloe's second grade classmates gathered at Jerry Ivey park on Saturday, April 26 to plant a tree for her. We all enjoyed a potluck lunch before the event. Although we were hoping for a beautiful sunny day, we didn't quite get that. It was a bit chilly and overcast for the event. Most of the children were able to help dig the hole for the tree. It was really fun to get everyone involved in the planting. The tree is a beautiful pink crabapple which will be a nice addition to the park.Once the tree was planted, we released pink balloons into the overcast sky. Soon after the tree was standing proudly in the ground and the balloons had floated up into the clouds, there it was. The sun! It peeked out at us for only ten minutes, but we knew that it was a smile from the heavens, making the event even more special. There will be a memorial plaque put by the tree in about a month.
